ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND

MAAN-DHIS is a progressive non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to fostering youth opportunities, promoting peace-building, facilitating social reconciliation, advocating for climate change action, driving economic innovation, and advancing good governance in Somalia. Our mission is rooted in the belief that young people possess the power, creativity, and determination essential for addressing the challenges facing our nation and contributing significantly to its reconstruction

As one of the youngest countries in the world, Somalia has an astonishing demographic composition, with approximately 85% of its population under the age of 35. Despite their potential, young people are disproportionately affected by critical issues such as poverty, climate change, armed conflict, and limited economic opportunities. Yet, we view them not merely as victims of circumstance but as vital assets for the development and future of Somalia. With the right guidance, support, and opportunities, these young individuals can emerge as influential leaders driving positive changeand progress. Founded in 2017 by a dedicated group of youth intellectuals, MAAN-DHIS is committed to creating a society where young people and women play a pivotal role in shaping Somalia’s future. We envision a country where their voices and ideas are recognized and valued as essential components of the national dialogue. Understanding that active participation and leadership from the youth are crucial, we work diligently to foster an environment of resilience, inclusivity, and prosperity

Our organization is devoted to providing a diverse range of platforms and opportunities aimed at enhancing the skills, knowledge, and capacities of young individuals. Through extensive training programs, workshops, and capacity-building
initiatives, we strive to equip the youth with the tools and resources necessary to engage meaningfully in peace-building initiatives, tackle the challenges posed by climate change, promote research and development, drive economic innovation, and advocate for good governance practices

MAAN-DHIS is steadfast in its commitment to harnessing the energy, creativity, and determination of Somalia’s youth, transforming them into empowered agents of change. By investing in their potential, we aim to build a brighter, more equitable future for all Somalis in partnership with the Federal Government of Somalia, the Federal Member States, UN agencies, donors, international NGOs, and local communities. We envision a Somalia where the aspirations and dreams of young people are realized, fostering sustainable development and ensuring peaceful coexistence throughout the nation.
