1. Introduction
The Youth, Peace, and Security Forum was jointly convened by MAAN-DHIS Youth Organization and UNDP Somalia to strengthen youth engagement in peacebuilding, governance, and social cohesion. The one-day event aligned with UN Security Council Resolution 2250, highlighting youth as essential actors in national peace and development. The forum brought together youth leaders, university students, marginalized groups, and young women to discuss challenges and propose solutions for a peaceful Somalia.
2. Objectives
- Enhance youth participation in peacebuilding and decision-making processes.
- Identify key challenges affecting young people’s role in peace and security.
- Promote gender equality and amplify young women’s leadership.
- Provide a collaborative platform for youth-led solutions and civic engagement.
3. Structure and Methodology
The forum utilized panel discussions, interactive workshops, and networking sessions. Participants were grouped to explore thematic areas including civic education, social cohesion, conflict resolution, gender equality, and youth employment. Sessions were facilitated by peacebuilding practitioners and subject-matter experts.

Six thematic clusters explored:

- Youth-Led Initiatives: Successful community projects, mentorship, and capacity-building.
- Inclusion & Diversity: Ensuring participation of marginalized communities and young women.
- Government & Policy Support: Policy inclusion, youth advisory councils, and resource allocation.
Networking
Participants and organizations built connections to enable collaboration on future youth-led peace initiatives.
5. Outcomes
- Enhanced Youth Empowerment: Participants gained a stronger voice and confidence to engage in peace processes.
- New Partnerships: Youth networks, NGOs, and institutions initiated collaborations for joint peacebuilding initiatives.

7. Conclusion
The forum successfully created an inclusive platform that elevated youth perspectives and strengthened their role in advancing peace and stability in Somalia. Through informed dialogue, practical recommendations, and new partnerships, the event reaffirmed the critical leadership of Somalia’s young generation in shaping a peaceful, secure, and democratic future.
